We’re currently looking for artists [...]]]> “OK Music” is a collective of improvising musicians who specialize in interactive musical performances — similar to what actors do in improv comedy shows, we take theme ideas from audience members and create musical performances on the spot. Some of our previous examples can be seen at our website, okmusic.me.

We’re currently looking for artists interested in collaborating with us, particularly in the realm of video and digital media. We believe that the process has some potential to lend itself to new media practices and would like to see if we can take things to the next level. Musical experience not necessary!

In addition, we’re also looking for:

-Someone to help us produce a short video (2-3 mins) that we can send out for promotional use. ($2-300 for services rendered.)

-Concert or event planners who’re interested in having us perform for them.

-People interested in attending our rehearsals as audience members, for participation and feedback.

We’re looking to expand our roster in order to ramp up our rehearsal and gig schedules for [...]]]> OK Music is a group of improvising musicians who specialize in interactive musical performances — similar to what actors might do in an improv comedy, we take theme ideas from audience members and turn them into musical performances!

We’re looking to expand our roster in order to ramp up our rehearsal and gig schedules for this year. Most of our members are freelancers so we’re willing to accommodate schedules with varying time slots.

-Any instrument welcome, even esoteric ones. -Must be comfortable improvising in front of audiences, in situations with limited (or no) rehearsal times. -Formal training (classical, jazz, world, etc.) preferred, but not necessary — must be able or willing to learn how to improvise in keys/modes, however. -Rehearsals will primarily be on the USC campus or the Pasadena/Highland Park/Echo Park area, weekly or bi-weekly.

Licenses only apply to projects and organizations that are planning on using our music for professional reasons. Our tracks are still free for personal or non-commercial use (student and hobby projects included), as always.

A new blog post on the topic of teaching improvisation, which relates to the direction OK Music is taking right now in regards to our services page. This post is partly explanatory, partly a pitch to potential clients, sponsors, and collaborators who might be interested in working with us.
